We need a royal commission into the farming industry now

December 7, 2020 8:07 am

Farm workers, backpackers, seasonal workers and other migrant visa workers tell us they are commonly paid well below the minimum wage, physically and sexually abused, exploited and forced to live in slave-like conditions.

They’re commonly forced to fake time sheets and work long hours without breaks.

This is not a case of a few ‘bad apples’, this is rife across the entire industry that is addicted and built on criminality and it’s become a national disgrace.

After a decade of inquiries, reports and investigations, enough is enough.

We’re calling on the Federal Government and Agriculture Minister, David Littleproud to announce a Royal Commission into the industry.
