SPOTLIGHT
Recovery Support Available at Dennis Public Library, every Tuesday 2-4:00pm

The Town of Dennis has partnered with Duffy Health Center to offer residents access to recovery support services in their own community. A Recovery Support Navigator is available for drop-in services in the Benjamin and Ruth Muse Meeting Room at the Dennis Public Library in Dennis Port. The program began on Tuesday, September 7th and will continue weekly, every Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00pm. 
LOCAL NEWS & EVENTS
Amplify POC Cape Cod

Amplify POC Cape Cod was founded to help amplify businesses owned by people of color on Cape Cod. This social and racial justice organization provides trainings to amplify businesses and development among people of color on Cape Cod. They also manage a list of people of color owned businesses on Cape Cod, including health and wellness organizations. 
FREE Certified Addiction Recovery Coach Pre-certification and Wellness Training Program with Two Program Dates to choose from!

Are you interested in starting your career path to become a Certified Addiction Recovery Coach?
 
Who Should Apply?
This training program was developed and designed for individuals in recovery (with at least 9 months of sobriety) and individuals with lived experience.
The CHART Van Serving Cape Cod

The Community Harm Reduction and Treatment (CHART) team is a partnership between the AIDS Support Group of Cape Cod, Community Health Center of Cape Cod and Duffy Health Center, funded by the national HEALing Communities Study. The mobile team provides substance use disorder, harm reduction, and recovery services for the Upper Cape area. You can find their schedule on the website below, or can call (774) 487-6107 for more information.

City of Boston releases Harm Reduction Toolkit

The City of Boston’s Office of Recovery Services aims to build and expand upon the culture of Harm Reduction within City of Boston programming, services, and communications. This toolkit provides information to healthcare, government, and recovery organizations on how to implement the Harm Reduction framework, making the way we deliver services more responsive and holistic. 
Syringe Services Program Learning Opportunity, October 27, 2021, 6:30-8:00pm

Join the HEALing Communities Study on Wednesday, October 27 from 6:30-8pm to learn about what a Syringe Service Program (SSP) could look like in your community! This will be an opportunity to learn more about the history, evidence, and impact of SSPs across Massachusetts. We will be joined by a panel of community members and leaders in overdose and infectious disease prevention. During the session you will have to chance to ask questions, share your concerns, and connect with your fellow community members. This session is open to anyone interested in learning more about SSPs, overdose prevention, and the local approval processes for expanded public health programming in your community. 
NATIONAL NEWS
SAMHSA to Launch New “Office of Recovery”

In support of recovery for all, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration (SAMHSA) is launching a new Office of Recovery. The Office of Recovery will “promote the involvement of people with lived experience throughout the agency and stakeholder activities, foster relationships with internal and external organizations in the mental health and addiction recovery fields.” More to come as they continue to develop this new national office.

Post Overdose Outreach Research Job Postings

Community Implementation Specialist: They are looking for someone with harm reduction, community organizing, and/or direct service experience who would facilitate collaboration between our research team, our advisory board, and post-overdose outreach programs.
Research Coordinator: They are looking for someone with research experience who will assist with the day to day operations of post overdose outreach studies, including recruitment, data collection and management, IRB submissions, etc. We are specifically looking for someone who is fluent in Spanish!

Food Access Cape Cod

The Barnstable County Cooperative Extension has compiled information on programs and sites in Barnstable County where prepared meals and pre-bagged groceries and supplies are available for pick-up.

Coping During the COVID-19 Pandemic

The Cape Cod COVID-19 Response Task Force has collected helpful wellness resources for you during COVID-19. Please check back regularly as we add to these resources. 
 
Each month we will highlight tools to help manage this crisis and identify for you web videos, articles, discussions, and resources we have found helpful. These tools apply to those of all ages, children, adolescents, young adults, adults, and elders.

COVID-19 can be difficult for all of us but especially for those in recovery. This might be exacerbated by people unable to attend their normal support group meetings or other recovery supports. Please click on button below to find local and nationwide resources related to substance use disorder and mental health. Transgender Social Support Group
Group is open to trans, non-binary, questioning, or other gender diverse identified people ages 18+. You do not need to be a Fenway Health patient to join, and the group is free to attend.
