EDISON, NJ (July 29, 2021) – A conference-record 2,963 student-athletes have been named to the 2020-21 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Academic Honor Roll. Since the 2006-07 season, the total number of student-athletes named to the MAAC Academic Honor Roll has increased every year.
“In a very challenging year, it is wonderful to see MAAC Student-Athletes continue to excel in the classroom,” said MAAC Commissioner Rich Ensor. “We at the MAAC would like to congratulate these student-athletes who overcame such rigorous challenges both on and off the field to maintain a commitment to academic excellence.”
To be eligible for the MAAC Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher on a 4.0 scale. The Academic Honor Roll is open to both full-time and associate members in the MAAC. All 23 conference-sponsored sports are represented.
In addition to the 2,963 student-athletes named to the Academic Honor Roll, an additional 63 Esports student-athletes are honored as well. Esports is recognized as an official MAAC Club Sport, with the conference awarding three championships this past year in Overwatch, Rocket League and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Marist College named 331 student-athletes to the Academic Honor Roll, leading the MAAC for the 20
th consecutive year. Monmouth University followed by naming 290 student-athletes, with Fairfield University in third with 286 on the list.
Jacksonville University (Women’s Rowing) led all MAAC associate members with 38 selections. Sacred Heart University (Women’s Rowing) placed 37 on the Academic Honor Roll, followed by the Drake University (Women’s Rowing) with 36.
