Standard Real Estate Safety Policies for Listing Clients and Real Estate Professionals
Standard Real Estate Safety Policies for Listing Clients and Real Estate Professionals
Why this petition matters
According to the 2018 National Association of Realtors Member Safety Report, there are 1.3 million Realtors that experience fear for personal safety, more than 100 real estate professionals have been murdered while on the job, and countless crimes of robbery in listing properties. While the real estate industry does not currently have a mandate for capturing images of driver’s licenses, there are several industries that do, for example the apartment industry. Why doesnt the real estate industry have the same safe guards in place to protect listing clients and their property as well as real estate professionals.
After learning of the increase of crimes in the real estate industry, both against listing agents and clients, Helen Hudson, founder of the SafeShowings real estate safety app, decided it was time to advocate for safe guards for the real estate industry.
SafeShowings makes it easy to request and securely record driver’s licenses while out in the field prior to entering a home. This approach will deter criminal behavior against listing clients and their property as well as real estate professionals.
