The Hollywood Professional Association announced the winners of its 15th annual HPA Awards recognizing postproduction achievements in color grading, editing, sound and visual effects on Thursday during a virtual presentation.
Winners in these categories included the best movie editing award being picked up by Yang Jinmo for his work on the Oscar winner Parasite, and the best theatrical movie color grading going to Jill Bogdanowicz for her work on Joker.
And the best color grading for episodic or non-theatrical movie work earned an honor for Todd Bochner for the Watchmen episode “It’s Summer and We’re Running Out of Ice.”
The entry period for this year’s HPA Awards ran from September to September, so some of last year’s Oscar contenders contended against newer films.

Also during the program, the Judges Award for Creativity and Innovation was presented to One World: Together at Home, the globally televised and streamed special produced remotely last April by the international advocacy organization Global Citizen and the WHO in support of the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund.
The Creativity & Innovation jury, co-chaired by Joachim Zell and THR tech editor Carolyn Giardina, said in a statement: “The jury selected the One World: Together At Home special for its timely and relevant response to the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, uniquely bringing people together in a comforting and entertaining way. Conceived and produced in April, the global production was inclusive in nature and harnessed cloud-based and other technologies to enable remote workflows. It was also a charitable event, raising $127.9 million for the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund.”
Elsewhere, Engineering Excellence Awards went to Moxion for its Immediates system enabling teams to share and review footage remotely using the Moxion cloud; Eluvio for its Content Fabric, a video streaming distribution platform; Eizo for its Prominence HDR monitor; and lens maker Carl Zeiss SBE for its eXtended data / lens metadata technology.
