Barnstable County Launches New Website

Information from the Barnstable County Commissioners’ Office

June 17, 2022 (Barnstable, MA) – Barnstable County, the Regional Government of Cape Cod, is excited to announce the launch of its new website at capecod.gov.

The new website offers improved search features, easy navigation, and showcases the County’s new branding. The site improves the user experience for those with disabilities by offering many additional accessibility features.

“The County’s new website is a huge improvement”, said Beth Albert, County Administrator. “It is much easier to find the calendar of meetings and meeting documents and to access to information on the numerous services provided by Barnstable County.”

Tomo360, a Massachusetts certified woman, minority and LGBTQ Business Enterprise, successfully bid on the web redesign project. The extensive project took eight months to complete.

“On behalf of the whole team at Tomo360, we would like to thank the Barnstable County staff for trusting us with the website redesign and for being amazing partners to collaborate with during the process. We were all impressed by the county staff’s skill level and work ethic, which helped us move through the steps efficiently to make for a website that the community and staff can all be proud of,” said Donato Dandreo, Project Manager at Tomo360.

The new website also uses the new domain name capecod.gov.  “Since 2008, the county has been using the domain name barnstablecounty.org; however, capecod.gov is the name that best represents the county government’s role and distinguishes the County as the regional government of Cape Cod,” said Sonja Sheasley, Barnstable County’s Communications Manager. “We are grateful to the entire Cape Cod Legislative Delegation who provided a joint letter of support that was instrumental in obtaining the capecod.gov domain name.”

The domain name barnstablecounty.org and all the former domain names for the individual department sites continue to function and will redirect web traffic to capecod.gov.

Barnstable County invites visitors to explore the new website, where they will be prompted to complete a feedback survey. The feedback will help Communications staff identify any lingering issues caused during the transition.
