West Jordan Wheels Park

The West Jordan Wheels Park is designed to become a top destination for skateboarders, bikers, and other wheeled recreation enthusiasts. The park features four distinct areas catering to various skill levels, sports, and riding styles. Alongside the dedicated skate areas, the park includes connecting paths, transitional spaces, and viewing and resting locations. The design also features paved pump tracks and a longboard path to accommodate both bikes, skateboards, and longboards. With a combination of innovative design and community input, the West Jordan Wheels Park aims to provide an exceptional riding experience for all.

West Jordan Wheels Park is currently under construction at 8600 S and Ron Wood Park Road. Just East of the pickle ball courts at Ron Wood Park (5900 W New Bingham Hwy).

All Wheels

Overall park design is focused on all skill levels:

  • Beginning users- any rider will find areas that fit their level and help them grow.
  • Family use- the layout of the park will be family friendly with elements for all ages and grouped to keep younger riders in safe areas that can be observed by parents.
  • Pavilions, shade structures, grass, seat wall and other amenities will provide comfort for users and observers.
  • Advanced users- Future park expansion will feature areas that appeal to even the most advanced riders.

Center Stage

The heart of the park is a multi-use plaza designed for the following activities:

  • Outdoor roller-skating rink.
  • Group events- Open area can be utilized for events for the park.
  • Food truck events- While typically closed to vehicles, plaza can be opened for special events.
  • Portable skating structures- Items can be set for various uses.

Perimeter Trails

The park’s perimeter loop is designed to be a multi-use path for all users:

  • Pedestrian use- This is an inclusive design for all wheeled sports. We will also ensure a safe path for pedestrian’s, stroller’s, etc.
  • Longboarding- portions of the trail will include banking, curves, and other elements for longboarders. More aggressive areas will be outside the primary loop.
  • Multiuse- smaller loops within the park allow smaller wheelers or walkers to shake up their routines and observe park activities.
  • Future use- eventually, the park will connect into the city’s trail network, including the Mountain View Corridor Trail, and extend around the new basin.

King of the Mountain

An elevated spine will rise to the east of the park:

  • Allows for perfect drop-ins to the expert pump track.
  • Great options for basin tracks.
  • Viewing for events and races.
  • Future drop-ins for dirt biking trails.

Aesthetics

Park will not only be a great experience for riders, but a great addition to the community.

  • Materials and plantings of the park blend in with the native landscape providing areas of shade while still reducing water needs.  Using primarily native grasses, cobble mulch, and low-water use trees, the park will provide a welcoming place with pockets of lawn and plantings.
  • Elements will be integrated into the adjacent basin and roadway
  • The park will have unique and functional theme elements that will be unveiled shortly.
  • All tracks will be built with nationally renowned contractors for the highest quality available.
