Sheila Condon awarded Scenic Visionary by Scenic Houston

Each year, Scenic Houston recognizes a community leader who has played a vital role in improving Houston’s appearance and image. This year we are excited to share that Sheila Condon, Clark Condon’s co-founder, was honored as the Scenic Visionary for her significant impact on Houston’s outdoor experiences. The award was celebrated at Scenic Houston’s Annual Dinner Thursday, October 27.

Sheila co-founded Clark Condon in 1985 as a premier landscape architecture firm in Houston. For the last 37 years, Sheila has been considered an expert at placemaking and has used her visionary expertise to create spaces that last for generations. Her depth of experience, from recreational and commercial facilities to public sector projects, gives her a broad-based knowledge that assures accuracy and client satisfaction.

She has been instrumental in the early vision and identity stages of numerous iconic projects within the region. She has worked with communities, developers, municipalities, and management districts, to reimagine, define, and implement long-standing, award-winning projects. Her guidance and leadership on these developments has improved pedestrian access, connectivity to greenspace, multi-modal transportation, environmental quality, and future economic development. It’s through her deep-rooted passion for excellent design, that she has helped shape the landscape of Houston with a focus on green infrastructure.

At the beginning of 2020, Clark Condon introduced an expanded management team to take the firm from single ownership to a shared leadership model; continuing the firm’s legacy and dedication to designing great spaces. Sheila’s role has evolved into an advisory position giving her an opportunity to share decades of knowledge through mentorship and consulting.

Sheila earned a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture at Rutgers in 1981. She was also the past recipient of the Outstanding Alumni Award from the Department of Landscape Architecture at Rutgers University. In 2006, she was inducted as a Fellow of the American Society of Landscape Architects, the most prestigious accolade awarded to professionals who significantly impacted the world through research and design.

We also celebrated Sheila’s award and legacy with a cocktail party at our office. Below are a few of the pictures from the event. Our leadership team presented Sheila with a beautiful sculpture for her garden, custom made by RS Industrial Arts.
