Nondumiso Zenani was allegedly kidnapped while hitchhikingon Sunday.

THE family of Nondumiso Zenani is breathing a sigh of relief.

This after the 24-year-old was found unharmed on Monday, 6 June, following her kidnapping on Sunday, 5 June.

She was found in White River, Mpumalanga.

Nondumiso’s mother, Zanele Nkosi (40), said the family was relieved that their daughter was found alive.

She said: “We found her alive and well. They didn’t harm her.

“We suspect these people just wanted money.”

She said when she saw the pictures, she was scared they would harm or kill her.

“I’m grateful the police made efforts to ensure that my daughter returned safely. She is still shocked but well. Her hands are swollen. Anything could have happened,” she said.

When Daily Sun tried to speak to Nondumiso, she said she wasn’t ready to talk.

Nondumiso was kidnapped while hitchhiking on the Barberton Road to Carolina on Sunday, 5 June. Her story was published on Tuesday, 7 June.

Her sister, Ashleigh Mndzebele, told Daily Sun that she received a call from her sister on Monday, 6 June, informing her about the kidnapping.

Nondumiso was blindfolded and taken to an unknown place.

It is alleged that the suspects then proceeded to Thekwane near KaNyamazane, where they snatched a second victim as she was entering her home.

This matter was also reported to the police and cases of kidnapping were opened.

Ashleigh said a few hours later, she was inboxed photographs of her sister on Facebook. She was tied with cables and a firearm was pointed at her. She said the alleged kidnappers demanded R10 000 in ransom money and threatened to kill her if the family didn’t co-operate.

Mpumalanga police boss Lieutenant-General Semakaleng Manamela said the suspects would be arrested soon as a strong team of investigators was working around the clock to ensure they are bust.
