General Description

Professional work in the technical services and materials management area of a public library including planning, organizing, implementing, and maintaining all aspects of the Integrated Library System (ILS) and associated support functions.

The primary work schedule for this full-time position is Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
 
Salary Disclosure: Starting Rate: $19.03 hourly plus benefit and retirement options 
Salary Range: $19.03 – $27.86 hourly; Pay Grade: 111

EMERGENCY RESPONSE/RECOVERY ACTIVITIES: All employees will be required to work before, during, or after an emergency. During an emergency, employees may temporarily be assigned to work and perform duties outside the normal scope of their position, location, and work schedule based on the needs of the County and its citizens. Emergency response duties may also include driving and/or operating a county vehicle or equipment and employees must obey all safety policies, and roadway rules and laws. 

Essential Functions

  • Performs daily routines and operational procedures for all ILS activities and maintenance in-line with prescribed standards
  • Assists with the development of technical policies, procedures and documentation for ILS related functions 
  • Works directly with Library Acquisitions Manager supporting all technical services and materials management functions including module management and configuration for ordering and tracking of items, collection development, cataloging, and collection maintenance
  • Assists with library materials purchasing and related accounting
  • Assists with interlibrary loan processing 
  • Coordinates database maintenance for patron and bibliographic data, including security and back-up protocols and other matters related to cataloging of materials
  • Configures and maintains ILS modules including online public access catalog, circulation, acquisitions, serials, and related third-party product integrations  
  • Works with library staff to resolve ILS functionality issues and improve efficiency through better utilization of system tools and work flow processes 
  • Plans, coordinates, and implements ILS software updates in compliance with required maintenance schedules and other related systems  
  • Assures appropriate and effective utilization of ILS reporting capabilities
  • Maintains access to publicly available digital resources and platforms and ensures their proper integration into the library's website
  • Assists with projects that integrate information from the ILS into other library related information systems
  • Performs related work as required

Minimum Requirements

Education, Training, and Experience:
Requires an Associate’s degree, vocational-technical degree or specialized training that is equivalent to satisfactory completion of two years of college education. A minimum of two years of work experience in computer or technology-related field that requires critical thinking and problem solving skills. Minimum of two years of experience working in public library. Knowledge and experience with integrated library systems and database maintenance preferred.  
 
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, Skills:
Requires valid Florida Driver License. Must have solid planning and organizing skills.  Position requires strong communication skills to effectively work with library staff, technology partners, and the public.

Supplemental Information

Summary of Benefits: Citrus County Board of County Commissioners provides a comprehensive benefit package. Employees are eligible to participate in the County's insurance plans if they are working a minimum of 30 hours per week in a benefit-eligible position. Coverage will become effective the first of the month following a 30-day waiting period. For example, an employee hired on April 10, the effective date of coverage will be on June 1.
